Top caps! and Barely There Boosters 2.0

new products dropping 10/10

I’m excited to introduce two new products to you all: a ribbed aluminum top cap, and an ultralight brake booster. Available in silver, gold, and black anodizing, with other colors to follow. Please enjoy the moody afternoon light in my kitchen:

top caps (1” and 1-1/8”)

boosters

The top caps were inspired by the ribbed aluminum on film projector FP 1 by Dieter Rams. They are intended to be mounted with the ribs parallel to the top tube of course. Very aero. Both 1” and 1-1/8” versions, 7 and 8 grams respectively.

look at those ribs!

The boosters were inspired by vintage designs I’ve seen through the years and made as Barely There™ as possible, JFF. They are under 1oz each, more of an elegant decoration and nod to the past for your probably-already-too-stiff bicycle. They are an ATB product for sure, made for wide tires: 2.3ish. There will be a printable 1:1 scale drawing linked on the product page so you can determine if they will safely clear your tires/fenders/etc. They are called 2.0 because I previously made a small batch of another version, but they didn’t even make it to the website. Enjoy some process pics of the current style —

Both the top caps and boosters will go live on shovel research dot com Friday 10/10 at noon (pacific). Tell your friends!

And as always — I’m open to questions or comments or product suggestions, so feel free to get in touch!
